Ljubljana is a city of bridges. The first bridge across Ljubljanica River is said ti be built in the Roman era. Ljubljana has also the only bridge in Europe with trees grown on it! Strolling through the city will fascinate you with the "identity card" of our most important architect Jože Plečnik. In the first half of the 20th century, Plečnik arranged river banks in the old part of Ljubljana, he designed numerous tree-lined riverside walks, including Trnovski pristan (Trnovo Pier) with weeping willows and stone terraces. He gave Ljubljana a great personal architectural character.
